This a great prequel to the LOTR series. Peter Jackson is directing 2 movies based on it which are coming out in December '12 & '13
so it is a good idea to refresh on a classic. It is the story of how Bilbo found the one ring.
This is a wonderful book of short stories that are typically overshadowed by J. R. R. Tolkien's stories about Middle Earth. They are all relatively light and delightful reads and each has a tale of it's own, none are connected. My personal favorite is Roverandom, a story about a little dog who has big adventures.
