Animals (Bright Baby) by Priddy Books
Animals (Bright Baby)

This book is great for infants to toddlers. Even better when you make your most enthusiastic animal noise to go along with the animal. The book end with a bee. I make a bzzzzzzing noise and circle my finger like a bee flies and then tickle my daughter and she cracks up every time, then wants to read the book again. It's the only book that keeps her happy in the car. Pictures are great and animals aren't all the ones you see all the time. Highly recommended. Great shower gift.

Toes, Ears, & Nose!: A Lift-The-Flap Book by Marion Dane Bauer and Karen Katz
Toes, Ears, & Nose!: A Lift-The-Flap Book

If your baby is like mine, 15 months and busy, this book is great to engage him/her in reading. This book was given to me by my aunt Annette, a long time teacher, and I didn't realize it at the time, but it's an AWESOME book for infants and toddlers. You and they can interact with the book as you read together. Every page has a flap to lift that reveals a body part. It's colorful. It's great. I plan to gift it to my friends with babies reaching toddler age.

The Lonely Polygamist by Brady Udall
The Lonely Polygamist

When people look at you funny as you chuckle while reading this book, you owe it to them to tell them what they are missing! This is as good a book as I've read in the last year or so, and I read a fair number of books. Really, if you are thinking about it, you might as well get it. Funny, complicated, sad, informative, and human. A book you'll want to savor.

Let the Great World Spin by Colum McCann
Let the Great World Spin

There's a reason this book won the National Book Award. So, so good. Even if you aren't 'into' New York life. The characters are human. Perfect accompaniment to Man on Wire (documentary).
