I first picked this book up a year or so ago and I could not get into it. Then I saw it there on the shelf and decided to give it another chance. I was very glad I did. It is an epic novel of India, spanning over decades. Mistry is the Charles Dickens of Indian fiction. Be patient with this book; once you get into it, you won't be able to put it down.
