Leni Zumas's writing crackles. Her books are sharp, bleak, funny, and possibly dangerous. When her collection of short stories, Farewell Navigator,...

What a sweet treat!. Once again - as she did in "Garden Spells", Ms. Allen weaves magic into the everday lives of her characters. A welcome break from the 'real' world!
I am an adult. I have heard tell that adults who read children's books should probably just grow up. Not so. We can learn a lot from stories such as this. Audrey Couloumbis has a talent for characters who get to the 'real' in each of us, be we young - or be we not so young. Her intended youthful readers will surely fall in with the prickly Elvira and her family as they make, and mend, their way through several not unfamiliar family crossroads.
No sugar coating here, but plenty to feel good about! Thank you, Audrey!

Wow! This is not a fast paced thriller, but, a week later I am still making storyline connections. From the very surprising (and rewarding ending) the reader will be lead back into the story again and again. Talk about a double bind! Fascinating...a must read for thinking minds!

A young adult book that should be required reading for all youth. This is a story of how life can and does change, irreversibly, in an instant. As one who knows, E.R. Frank portrays the horrific and sad aftermath of sudden death, and its far reaching effect, with honesty and truth. This is the truth that the invincible youth of this world do not readily accept, as it relates to them. I repeat - A must read!

This was the best read audio book I have ever had the pleasure of hearing. The characters drawn by Anita Diamant make this not just a story, but a trip into a bit of historic life that most of us could not likely have imagined. Kate Nelligan's character portrayals and larger than life oratory, mesmerize and transport you into the time and the place. Fantastic.
