Childhood: An Autobiographical Fragment by Moses Rosenkranz
Childhood: An Autobiographical Fragment

marjef, March 10, 2008

A difficult text excellently translated. Moses Rosenkranz was a poet, and his quirky way of recalling his childhood reflects his poetical sensitivity.
Rosenkranz' childhood was afflicted with poverty and disrupted by the upheavals of World War I and its aftermath. His autobiography provides insight into the kind of Jewish life that is seldom documented: close to the land, physical, and disorderly.
