This is a delightful little book, a pure joy to read. Dava Sobel has a real gift; her prose is lucid and engaging. She was a friendly companion in the few days I spent reading The Planets and I was sorry to part company at book's end. This would be an excellent introduction for those who have not read much about the solar system. Even for those who have -- like myself -- Sobel's presentation might be a real treat!
