I wouldn't have met Piti if it hadn't been for a chichigua. To translate chichigua as a kite does not do justice to these beautiful creations of...

This book may seem as though it was written for children, but it is truly a delightful read for all ages.
This is easily Kate DiCamillo's masterpiece - the story of a china rabbit who loves no one, is lost from those who loves him, and, only then, realizes what it is like to love - and to have those you love stolen from you.
From Nell, an old woman who lost a child, to a hobo and his dog, who are constantly wandering, to the heartbreaking story of Sarah Ruth, a dying girl, who perhaps loves Edward most of all.
All the characters find their way into your heart - from the nastiest, to the warmest. This book is quite short, and, oddly, double spaced, so reading it is a breeze. I would recommend this to everyone of all ages - this is one of those stories that you are never too old for.
I would recommend reading this book before the Death Note series.
This, like all Death Note stories, was extraordinarily well thought out, with superb character development. As all characters in Death Note, everyone had their quirks, which are always surprisingly lovable.
The twist at the end really got me, but going back, I can't believe that I didn't see it sooner. Death Note has a knack of doing that, but this is the finest example of it.
Great book - one of the best spin-off books I've read!
This is one of those books that everyone should read.
I came across this book by chance - while reading the Kite Runner, I forgot my copy at home, so thought I'd pick one up from the school library. The Kite Runner was gone, but when I saw that this was by the same author, I thought it was worth a chance.
It spans forty years - from the early childhood of a young girl, Mariam, to her death. Also featured is the second wife of her husband, whom he marries when Mariam in unable to give him a child. This girl agrees to the marriage because she is already pregnant; her parents are dead, and she believes the father of her child to be, as well.
From watching the two women band together to survive their husbands abuse, living in poverty, attempting to escape to freedom, to having to read as Aziza, the daughter Laila, be abandoned at an orphanage, this book will impact your life for the rest of your days. If you are a woman, you will realize exactly how lucky you are to live in a world where we have the freedoms that we do. If you are a man, you will see the importance of family loyalty.
I hope to see another book from Hosseini in the future.
