Being of Dutch origin myself, I found Mark's book fascinating because I wanted to know just what it was that separated the rescuers from their peers and why they would risk their lives and families to save a few people. To see the thread of similarity in the lives of those who rescued regardless of their diverse backgrounds and lifeviews was very insightful to me and challenging as well.
