Colder Than Ice by David Patneaude
Colder Than Ice

michael_donahue2011, April 24, 2007

The book that I read was Colder than Ice. I think that the setting is josh room, nature, and Rooney’s pond. In joshes room that is where he hangs his pictures after he prints them. Also he looks at the pictures to see if he wants to keep them. Another setting is nature that is where he takes pictures and where he and his friends play hockey. The last setting is Rooney’s pond that is where takes pictures of wildlife and nature and plays pond hockey. Some of the main characters in the book are josh ark and Corey. Josh is the camera man and the most calm. Mark is the coolest of them all ad is the hockey player. Corey is the outgoing one and he is the one that is always left alone. I think that the plot is Josh isn't happy to be starting at a new school, especially as it's almost Thanksgiving. But maybe it's a chance to be somebody--not so easy for a kid who's been pretty average and is overweight besides. So when big-shot Corey Kitchens wants Josh to join him and his friends for ice hockey on Poor Rooney's pond, Josh is pumped. He can see himself out there, with the cool seventh graders, a natural success for the first time in his life. I think that the writer is trying to accomplish that making friends is harder than it seems. I think the author likes the story because it involves real life situations and maybe was describing himself. I think that the theme is if you want something he should go for it, like he wants friends then he should make them. “Why do you like to take pictures said mark”? He likes to take pictures because it keeps him busy and maybe it is his hobbies. “Success is you glad you made friends”. Yes I am he likes it because he didn’t have any friends at all and now he does. “Failures come over here and play no I don’t want to so mark just shoot” this is one of his failures because it is his life. What I liked about it was it had a little bit of hockey and what I didn’t like is that it had a lot of girly stuff going on. It does not have lasting value and I don’t know if the author accomplishes his goals. I would not recommended this book because it was very boring.
