Well written, logically ordered recounting of important, but sometimes ignored years of American history. Especially powerful on immediate antebellum years and Reconstruction period. Well-documented. Great way to spend a long weekend digging deeply into American history that you thought you knew but, according to this tome, probably missed out on in school.
