The teachings of St. Francis De Sales were recorded by nuns for this book, to who he spoke in hopes of aiding them in their Christian life. If you need a dose of humility, here is a good book to read. And should you think you are humble enough, don't hesitate to order it now!

I am giving this book to many of my loved ones for Christmas. Though St. Escriva writes clearly in language which will strike a conversation with lay people, the passages in this book cannot be passed over too quickly. As the pages of the chapters fell away I became more consumed in contemplation of this Saint's insight. It may help you find your way, or give you useful advice for every day life on your way.

An exploration of the intention of man, helping the reader to understand pure (and impure) intention in prayer and in relationships with god, oursellves, and our fellow man. Merton focuses on love, sincerity, and mercy while dicussing the vocation of a Christian in this life. There is no love without love of god.

Epictetus, who was crippled as a slave before gaining his freedom went on to write a text that can help the reader understand what is within their control and what is not. With this understanding then the reader can take action where it is called for and not even waste thought in those things beyond one's own control. Ancient but timeless. I did so enjoy it not only have I read it multiple times, I have given more than a dozen copies of this text away as gifts to readers of all ages (teens to seniors). Given the short thought-by-thought format of the text it is very digestible and reader friendly. It can be left to sit on a table or night stand and picked up at random to add a wealth of insight to any day.
