The Clan of the Cave Bear :a novel by Jean M Auel
The Clan of the Cave Bear :a novel

mmullens, February 13, 2008

I was captivated by this book from the moment I first read it in the 80s. I've re-read it at least seven times. Jean Auel did/does/will do a great job telling a detailed story about our human history that moves along well and remains interesting throughout. I found it easy to understand prehistoric Europe through Ayla's senses, to commiserate with her in her struggle to find approval, to suffer through her losses, and to gain strength and confidence as she gained it. After reading this and the other Earth's Children books I took up studying archaeology, anthropology, natural healing, herbal remedies, and the art of communicating well. If you haven't read this book yet, get it from your library! I think you'll then decide to make it a permanent part of your own book collection.
