The Natchez Indians: A History to 1735 by James F., Jr. Barnett
The Natchez Indians: A History to 1735

mudcatmls, September 6, 2013

One of the most hated tribes in the area by other Indian tribes. The Natchez Indians is how Natchez, Mississippi got its name. In rough English translation the Natchez called the area they lived in, the now St. Catherine creek area, White Apple Village. Natchez came close to being called by this name, White Apple. The Natchez date back to around 3,000 B.C. and were Sun Worshipers and had a class system, the lowest being Stinkerds. This book is a very well done history of a minor Indian tribe.

In my own humble opinion a very simple anthology of ideas on cosmology.

A most mind bending trip through intellectual thought that I have ever been through. Pickover can really turn out great books that get you to really think hard. This book, like his others, are built around a story that is interwoven with all the science making thinking real hard great fun!

Cosmology the Science of the Univers 2ND Edition by Edward Harrison
Cosmology the Science of the Univers 2ND Edition

mudcatmls, September 5, 2013

This second edition of a very erudite Cosmology textbook has some chapters rewritten with seven new chapters added. It has projects that you can do at home, and comments at the end of each chapter to think about. I have read both editions and they are both something to continue to reread and ponder on.
