Quite easily one of the best books I read in 2011 and maybe one of my favorite books of all time. We'll see if it stands up after I've read it a second time.

These are the best books I read during this first decade of the 21st century. Tolkien was a wordsmith of the first degree and this tale of Bilbo and his kin made me keenly aware of what good fantasy writing should be. I have trouble reading the poorly written fantasy novels I used to read, knowing that great work like this exists.

This was a great start to the series. I love the reimagining of all the fables and fairy tales as exiles from their own world. The art is equal to the story.

I thought this book was pretty good. The end was a little contrived. I'm halfway through the second book, and was pretty pissed for about a quarter of what I've read so far. But, Stephenie Meyer has the hook. I will probably read all four.

This is not the best movie in the world, but is pretty on par for a romantic comedy. Actually, it's probably better than a lot of the crappy American romantic comedies in theaters today (a la Kate Hudson/Matthew Mcconaughey). If you're in the mood for something light and fluffy, this is definitely your movie. The acting was pretty good and the story doesn't drag. I actually don't remember much about the movie, except that it wasn't bad.
If you don't like reading your movies, though, you might want to learn Italian and Danish first.
