Highly readable account of the financial meltdown, related through the rise, fall, rise, stumble, and possible rise again of J.P.Morgan, the birthplace of the derivative product innovations that got picked up and turned in to a Frakenstein's monster (one of Tett's metaphors) that began to devour the entire financial system. For an outsider, an excellent tool to get to grips with how this mess happened.
This was a spur-of-the-moment purchase, I didn't know Robin Abraham's writing beforehand at all, but I chose it as I am a compulsive reader of anything etiquette-related. It's an excellent book, and deserves to get a wide audience. She's funny, and head-slappingly insightful, and I'd put her in the same league as my beloved Judith Martin. Highly recommended.
