Twilight (Twilight Saga #1) by Stephenie Meyer
Twilight (Twilight Saga #1)

No. Just, no.
I don't mean to sound like one of those cliche Twilight/Stephenie Meyer haters, but I entirely did not enjoy this book.
First of all, characters. No one, NO ONE, has a "face of perfection," or whatever Edward Cullen had. Plus, him having no visual flaws just makes him more boring of a character.
And... Bella Swan. I mean, really, how many leading male characters were "in love with her"? Three? Four?
If you read the credits in the back of Breaking Dawn (I think it was), Meyer says she borrowed some of the characters' names from her siblings. It's not that hard to come up with your own character names.
I'm sorry, but I just could not enjoy this book.

Criss Cross by Lynne Rae Perkins
Criss Cross

This is a simply amazing novel. An amazing book.
I've seen people say that it is lacking a real story, but it's also supposed to be a realistic book. And truly, it is. Perkins’ is writing about real life, which doesn't necessarily contain a story or, at least, one that follows the same goals, etc., throughout it.
The writing itself is slightly quirky, and very different from anything else I have read. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Perkins' lovely drawings also add to the fun. Her artist style is fantastic, and it fits the story.

Very creative.
