I wasn't sure what I was going to find when I picked up this book, but was soon drawn into these stories of not only people that are part of the violent aspect to our country, but to the people whose lives are all affected by them.

Man's Search for Meaning

This is a must read for everyone. How can one survive not only physcially but emotionally and spiritually in the midst of something as horrendous as being a prisoner in a concentration camp? This book chronicals how those that did surive were able to do just that. It's an incredible book on survival and how to find meaning in our own lives.

Just Above My Head by James A. Baldwin
Just Above My Head

I took a class on Baldwin and having read all his fiction, this was the book that really struck me in everyway. It is a book about community, love, memory, and living in a world where being black could get you killed. Yet, overall, it is a book about being human with all that that entails.

But Enough about Me: A Jersey Girl's Unlikely Adventures Among the Absurdly Famous by Jancee Dunn
But Enough about Me: A Jersey Girl's Unlikely Adventures Among the Absurdly Famous

Oh, my God!!!! This book was totally awesome!! I laughed so hard while reading this book as I too grew up during the '80s except on the west coast. While my experience was more KROQ and less Bruce Springstein, I could totally relate to her memories of the eighties and the great music and rock stars of that time. Loved this book.
