The book was quite absorbing, and an enjoyable read, but somehow seemed more like a long magazine article than a "real" book. I actually heard the author speak in person, and she was entertaining, but again, I just felt she and the book were very commercial and sort of shallow.
None of my reservations prevented me from giving it as a gift, however!
