After a first reading at the tender age of nine, I have revisited this book regularly over the years since.
It never fails to delight.
Reading it in different languages affords insights into the uniqueness of time and locality �" as a text commonly available in several versions, it is most useful in this respect.
I enjoy the images evoked by my early and recent readings to the extent that late overtly visual interpretations seem destined to disappoint. The Hobbit movie? No, thanks.
