My hunch is that this ghoulish remake of Homer's Iliad is directed at the Iraq war, which competes with it regarding gory details of the war's barbarity and inhumanity, even to the extent of beheadings, losses of limbs, spilling of guts, bloodletting, and depth of hatred and anger between humans of different nation-ality and persuasion. This is not fun reading, and raises a question as to what progress humanity has made in 3000 yrs, aside from technical details.
