This is a novel about a set-in-her-ways loner woman called Boss. She dives wrecks in space as if it was an underwater dive with the same precautions and management systems. Then she finds an ancient ship where it is impossible for it to be found.
I appreciate the point of view of the diver as well as the strong female protaganist. Having daughters I am glad to see that aspect of a woman. I am not a diver but I definitely get a feel for what diving could be like in real life without feeling preached to about it.
I thoroughly enjoy the future universe created in this book and the method it is rolled out. Rusch's characters are developed in a minimalistic progression which keeps me reading. It is a great plot and an ingenious idea of transfering the experience of diving wrecks on earth in the water to diving wrecks in space for the same reasons; profit, adventure and fun.
I have recently become a fan of Rusch's work and have been reading her works. The sequel to this is just as good and The Retrieval Artist series is even better.
