Silverlock by John Myers Myers
Silverlock

It's out again! Every so often, I look for this book to replace copies lost or lent. Woo hoo! So - imagine an island nation populated with all the myths and legends you have ever heard of. From Beowulf to the Green Man and Circe, in every culture, every mythbase, here they are. Silverlock is one man's journey (a very cynical, jaded man to begin with ) through the Commonwealth (the island nation) where he was thrown up by shipwreck. By the time his journey is done, his outlook is changed and he...wait - you need to read this for yourself. Go ahead, it won't bite - but you might become addicted to it and revisit every year or so. This book has been with me since college...many, many years ago. I still read it with a sense of wonder and there are still some characters I haven't identified! Happy reading!

Six Geese A-Slaying (Meg Langslow Mysteries) by Donna Andrews
Six Geese A-Slaying (Meg Langslow Mysteries)

Well, she's done it again. By chapter 10, I was aswim in red herrings and couldn't figure out which way to go. The only author I really can't accurately predict and from whom I get great enjoyment. Yes, I actually laugh out loud when reading her books.

Her family descriptions strain a bit (just a bit) in this one with the believability factor, but it's good to see the old characters again. Will I keep reading her? Oh yes, you bet! Thanks, Donna Andrews, for all the fun and mayhem.
