Passion and Pain: The Life of Hector Lavoe

phycol, August 12, 2008

I became fascinated with Hector Lavoe because of the film "El Cantante." Before the movie, I had never heard of the singer. While reading part of the the book I realize the movie didn't cover his entire life and was told from the perspective of his wife Puchi's point of view. However, the book focuses on his entire life, from birth to the end of his life. The book is an excellent read, and one should read it, especially if you've seen the movie, because again it expounds on more of Hector Lavoe's life, beside that with his wife.
