I bought this for my 7 year old granddaughter last Christmas. I liked that there are no product tie-ins to the dolls - no Barbie or Disney princesses. No scissors are required and there is a cardboard "closet" to store all of the items in. Some manual dexterity is required as the clothing pages are perforated and must be punched out. Isabella spent most of Christmas Day playing with the kit and has asked for more paper dolls this year. Well worth the money to provide creative-and quiet-fun.
A grim, depressing crime story; characters with little hope in dirty, claustrophobic lives. This is one of the few books I could not finish. It is the only book that I have thrown away - I could not begin to wish this painful tale on anyone.

A must read for children of the fifties. The author is a great storyteller with a flair for the comedic. A positive and entertaining book.(3 of 5 readers found this comment helpful)
