Oy! Can this man turn a phrase!!!
In fact Mr. Chabon had me a little worried as I read the opening page. This
very phrasing created a tempo that snapped me into a more alert level of attention:
this was not going to be a simple journey into his tale, the size of the book notwithstanding.
Nor should it be. We readers are invited into the ancient land of the mysterious Khazars, told by fascinating characters
in the cadence of the time. The story is spellbinding, hilarious and moving--often all at once.
I've now become a Michael Chabon junkie (with no regrets--only joy!) and take great pleasure in spreading my enthusiasm
for the books by an author of such stupendous talent.
