Fire by Kristin Cashore
Fire

readergabby, January 3, 2011

'Fire' captured my attention from the first page. It is different from 'Graceling', but having read 'Graceling' first, I caught on to a few clues and was able to foreshadow what could happen in the story. This was more of a thing to boost my confidence. A 'Ooo. Aren't I so awesome. Since I read this other book I know that this ___ means ___! Yay me.' kind of experience. But as Kristin Cashore has stated, this book can stand completely independent of 'Graceling' as well.
I usually prefer books with the heroine as a strong, fighting with fists kind of girl, but 'Fire' surprised me into the opposite. I really fell in love with the main character, Fire. She has the type of charisma that I think you can't help but love even if she's not flying through the air and kicking men in the gut (as Katsa is 'Graceling'). The other characters are extremely enjoyable as well. I zoomed through 'Fire' and I wish it could have gone on forever!
Without a doubt, this is my favorite book I read this year (2010).
