Excellant collection. Also, read his novel, The Half Life. Both put him on the road of being "Oregon's Best Writer". Truly splendid.

Last Night in Twisted River by John Irving

Dreadful; Awful. Irving's worst. Nothing new in spite of his self-delusional praise for his prior books. Heard same drivel before & from beginning writers. (Who cares; about the semi-colon?). Had hoped for some Irving substance; like Cider House. Yes; he can write; but not this time;;;;;;;;

Yes, not his best. But, I ask all readers, just how many "no-hitters" can one author pitch? So far, he has 5 "no hitters". This book is a fast ball over the plate, a worthy read from America's Best.
