I'll admit I was a Julia Child fan before reading her My Life In France but I feel I know just a little bit more about Ms. Child and what it must have been like in an a male dominated industry such as cooking. Julia makes it easy to understand why she didn't get caught up in the politics at the Cordon Bleu cooking school. She identified with her purpose, to bring the ease of cooking into every household that she could. I only wish she was around to hear all of this much deserved praise.

Too bad Dr. Swanson's "Help, My Kid Is Driving Me Crazy" wasn't around for my parents to read. I doubt I would have passed along the same improper parental skills to my children. What makes this book standout among other self-help parenting books is Swanson's list of the many (17 to be exact)ways our children manipulate us and what to do about it. The author offers several ways of resolving parent/child conflicts. Even more important, the book is very easy to understand. I recommend it to everyone.

Admittedly I am a Julia Child Fan. That, and the fact that I've seen the movie Julie & Julia made this book a given. Ms. Child has a great "roll up your sleeves"
type of attitude in the kitchen and that's easily translated into lines in this book. In fact, to say this book has "legs" is an understatement. Truly enjoying.

Imagine getting advise from God (or your Higher Power) on a daily basis. Then imagine your life's troubles and roadblocks slip away. That's what I have found reading God Calling and I'm only half way thru the book. I recommend this book to any and all who want to find a higher purpose to their life on Terra Ferma.
