The Friendship Factor: How to Get Closer to the People You Care for by Alan Loy Mcginnis
The Friendship Factor: How to Get Closer to the People You Care for

I considered rating this book at 4 stars, because I think the older edition from 1979 was perfect the way it was. The revisions in the 25th Anniversary Edition reflect events and concepts that new readers will appreciate.

Both editions provide a good roadmap for those of us who aren't quite sure what it takes to create and sustain relationships. I read the original version about 7 years ago, and it helped me deepen my friendships significantly. I go back to it again and again.

I read this version recently, because I wanted to give the book as a gift, and I was curious about the revisions. It still contains most of the original material, which is written in a clear and warm style. The content is practical and truly useful. I hope it helps you get closer to the people in your life too.

I read this book about 7 years ago, and it was a turning point in my life. It is a good roadmap for those of us who aren't quite sure what it takes to create and sustain relationships. There is a newer version, with a few worthwhile updates, but I like the older version better. Possibly because it was written in the late 70s, so the language resonates for me. It helped me deepen my friendships significantly, and I go back to it again and again.
