Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin Trilogy #1) by Robin La Fevers
Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin Trilogy #1)

sarah_sal90, April 3, 2012

While it looked like a long book at first with 500+ pages, after I started reading it, it went fast.

Ismae has had a hard life.
After living seventeen miserable years with her abusive father, he sells her to Guillo the pig farmer for a few coins, Ismae hopes that the arranged marriage will be her salvation, but Guillo is not her knight in shining armor. Marriage life is not kind to Ismae, she still endures beatings and even being locked away. She is soon rescued and is sent to the convent of St. Mortain, the god of death. Once there she learns of she was sired by death himself and gets the chance to study the art assassination and serve as a handmaiden to death.

I liked how Ismae grew within the book. Ismae was a strong heroine.

Thank you to Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and NetGalley for an early ARC eBook.

Allegiance (Legacy Trilogy) by Cayla Kluver
Allegiance (Legacy Trilogy)

sarah_sal90, February 25, 2012

A huge thank you to Harlequin Teen and NetGalley for the eCopy to review.

I was excited to start this book. It starts off where the first one left off, after the marriage of Alera and Steldor.

I think Alera matures a lot, in the beginning of the book she acted childish, but as the story moved on her maturity did was well.

In Legacy I did not like Stedlor at all, but he has changed into a completely different person. He still is as hotheaded as before, but the difference in him is a 180 in this book. I didn't know that Steldor actually has a heart beneath his pride, my feelings for him has changed. Although I'm still Team Narian!

Narian didn't appear in the book until the middle, I was confused about him and his intentions. Was he a threat to Alera and her kingdom? He was after all a Cokyrian.

Just like in the first book, I loved London! He was brave, and cared for others. I loved to learn about his past.

It was an amazing book. It takes you all over. I think it was kind of slow about half of the way in, I still love the series. It has everything, Historical fiction, fantasy, royalty and of course a love triangle! And what's better than a queen in love the enemy? I am eagerly awaiting book three, Sacrifice!

Partials by Dan Wells
Partials

sarah_sal90, February 17, 2012

Thank you to HarperCollins and NetGalley for kindly providing me a copy to review.

It was the cover that grabbed my attention. I could tell it was a Dystopian right away, even before I read about it. I can't get enough of these books. I love, love, love them! And Partials didn't disappoint. The idea of the book is awesome, robots that look, sound, and act like humans, made to fight in war.

Partials is set in the near future, in the year of 2076, when a deadly virus has wipes out 99% of humanity. Humans are an endangered race, babies are even more important than ever. But that's the problem, no child has lived past a few days in more than fourteen years.

Sixteen year old Kira Walker wants that to change. She works as a trainee in the maternity ward at the hospital and is trying to find a cure for the virus, before her best friend gives birth to her unborn child. Hoping to save the baby, Kira will sacrifice her life for a cure.

This was an amazing book! It is on the long side, but it was well worth it, the book had everything, romance and action.

If you'r a dystopian fan, you should read this. This book is released the 28th of February, go out and buy it, I know I will. Book two Failsafe is expected to be published in 2013. I can't wait to read more from Mr.Wells.

Pure by Julianna Baggott
Pure

sarah_sal90, February 6, 2012

Thank you to Grand Central Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me to review this book.

It took me a while to get into the book, it was a long book (almost 400+ pages) and at times it seemed slow and dragged out to me. There was a lot of science fiction and I think that's what people mean when they say 'it was weird' or 'the weird parts'. While I'm not normally a huge fan of sci-fi, this was different. It was not my favorite dystopian novel, I did enjoy it.

In this highly original post-apocalyptic novel the characters were likable and well developed. There was so much details in this book, I think that's why it took so long to get into the book.

Even though it was a YA book, I think this is for older teens, this is very dark with violence disturbing elements, and death. It was creepy and compelling at the same time.

Film rights for the novel Pure have been acquired by Fox 2000, it should be an interesting movie.

Incarnate by Jodi Meadows
Incarnate

sarah_sal90, January 30, 2012

A huge thank you to HarperCollins and NetGalley for allowing me to review this book.

The cover is beautiful (I think everyone loves the cover) but the book matches the cover, it's just as beautiful. The story and the writing style was amazing!

Everyone in Range is a reincarnate, except Ana, she's not supposed to exist. She took the place of Ciana when she died. To her abusive mother she's a nosoul.
She leaves her abusive home to find the city of Heart, to find answers about herself, and how or why she's become.

Along the way Ana meets, is saved by actually, a boy named Sam. At first Ana doesn't trust him, but she soon finds out that Sam is different than everyone else. Sam is sweet, kind and caring. There was no instinct love at first, it started as a friendship, then evolved into a sweet, natural romance.

I loved Sam. Ana as well, it was hard not to like her. This book has everything fantasy, action and romance. Everything flowed easy, I got warped up in the story. I read this book within a day. I can't wait for more in the series. When is the next book in the series coming out?
