Langrishe, Go Down (Higgins's first novel) is a very good book, which is, to my mind, different from the traditional Irish literary works. It introduces the conflicts of Irish and the europeans, hence enlarging the sphere of the Irish literature. As a contemporary writer, Higgins successfully follows James Joyce's style and makes readers feel fresh about Irish novels.
