Along with Hotel Rowanda, this should be required viewing for all. Regardless of Mr. Polanski's current issues, it would be difficult to find fault with this unflinching look into the heart of Poland during WWII and the heart of an artist living there.

Feeding the Whole Family: Cooking with Whole Foods

I find it amazing that such a slim volume can contain such a vast array of knowledge about food, eating and nutrition. As a bonus, it has some great, simple recipes for every member of the family. I consider it a valuable resource for those with kids or without. (And the recipe for nut burgers is fantastic...I know is sounds strange, but these homemade veggie burgers are great!)

A terrific book in more ways than one. Not only does this book contain numerous recipes for fermented goodies, but it also presents historical and personal stories about the practice of fermentation. I can recommend this book to both those interested in the art of fermentation as well as cooks who would like to expand their repertoire. This book is as addicting as fresh homemade sauerkraut!
