The Game On! Diet: Kick Your Friend's Butt While Shrinking Your Own by Krista Vernoff
The Game On! Diet: Kick Your Friend's Butt While Shrinking Your Own

spypen87, October 6, 2009

The scale went down!!! OMG, I know this might not be a big deal to some but I haven’t stepped on the scale and seen a smaller number in who knows how long. And it is all because of the amazingness that is the game on diet. I have been trying to figure out why this has been working for me when other things haven’t. At first I thought it was the book itself. It is super easy to read and actually pretty funny. But I could have just totally loved reading it and then thrown it under my bed to collect dust. Then I thought it was the diet itself. Eating 5 small meals a day, actually exercising for 20 minutes and drinking a ton of water is completely different then what I was doing before. (Which was basically the total opposite of that). But just because a diet is really good doesn’t mean that you want to stick to it. So then I thought it was the competition part of it that made it work. I may not ever want to diet but I always want to win. Wanting a perfect score so that my friends wouldn’t beat me is enough to make me stay away from those super bad foods. But I’m usually the first person to get tired of a board game and want to play something else. I don’t like to lose, but if I never make it to the end I don’t have to. Then I realized it must be the teams. If I quit, it affects someone else. If I pig out, my entire team suffers. Except that I usually don’t like to let other people make me feel guilty for the choices I make. And then I finally got it. The game on diet doesn’t work for one reason alone. It works because it is super smart and uses all of the different parts of a healthy lifestyle and ways of getting your behind in gear together to make you want to do all the right things. And after you do those things, you enjoy all of the rewards. We are having a blast, losing weight and feeling great. I’m psyched to keep playing and I know that even if my team doesn’t win (although I’m pretty sure we will) this completely changed the way I think about weight loss. It is the most awesome diet ever!
