Great book, expanding substantially on the first edition inasmuch as Yerkes has revisited the companies to bring back new findings, and, she has also significantly deepened her discoveries about fun at work.
Basically, fun at work fits into a much bigger picture, a picture concerned with positively supporting commitment, performance, and a sense of espirit de corps.
Yerkes makes the case for a much more sophisticated organizational treatment of personnel. This is given by what she terms 'soft science.' It makes sense but you'll have to read her excellent book to experience the arrow hitting the bullseye!
