Number the Stars (Yearling Newbery) by Lois Lowry
Number the Stars (Yearling Newbery)

Imagine, that you were a Jewish during the time Hitler was alive. You had to hide and lie without getting caught because you would be sent to a concentration camp to suffer. All you had were few members of your family to help keep you safe. The main character is Annemarie Johansen and her best friend is one of the many Jewish people that Hitler is trying to catch. Her best friend Ellen moves in with Johansen's and pretends to be part of the family. Annemarie is asked to go on a dangerous escape to save her friends life. I thought that this book was full of suspense and had a lot of detail that made the book clear. This author Lois Lowry did a fantastic job on Number the Stars because you got to know what it was like for people during that time. Will Ellen get captured by Hitler or will their escape plan exceed?

Hatchet (87 Edition) by Gary Paulsen
Hatchet (87 Edition)

stevielol97, June 9, 2010

Imagine, your parents were divorced and you got put on a plane to stay with your father over the summer. While on your way, the pilot has a heart attack and the plane crashes near by an island. The main character, Brian is trying to survive on a deserted island with out any supplies, except for a hatchet that was given by his mother. As he is on the island he figures out many strategies to get the most important things to survive, food, water, and shelter. He also goes threw many challenges with his surroundings of nature. I loved this book, Hatchet because Gary Paulsen made it seem so real. He also made it very suspenseful and I wanted to keep reading it. I could not put this book down because of how well it was written. This book was full of inspiration, and has a lot of adventure. Will Brian survive on this vicious island or will he face death?

The Book of Three (Chronicles of Prydain #1) by Lloyd Alexander
The Book of Three (Chronicles of Prydain #1)

stevielol97, June 7, 2010

Imagine, you were an assistant pig keeper and the pig that you were looking after ran away deep into the forest. By finding this pig you could fulfill your dreams of becoming a hero. You have just walked into the shoes of the main character Taran, that is trying to find a pig that is important. As this boy goes on a journey to find the pig he meets a lot of new people and goes threw many challenges to becoming a hero. The plot of this book was alright and I thought that it got a little confusing in parts of the book because to many things were going on at once. Loyd Alexander's writing is descriptive and is suspenseful. It sometimes make you want to keep reading to find out what is going to happen next. You will need to read this adventurous fantasy book to find out the conclusion.
