This book has haunted me in the months since I read it. The choices that the characters were forced to make were mind blowing. Witnessing the capacity for the human spirit to rise and fall so very low, and for each person to find a way, against all odds, to have some kind of control over their own destiny. I don't know why some of us live here, and some of us live there, but I am thankful for Kathrine Boo for acquainting me with other lives, other choices, other destinies.
