I am currently reading this (a very worn copy I got on my 12th birthday 2*#&*% years ago) to my kids and it is holding its own against the beloved Harry Potter magical world.
I used to read it every summer until high school. The writing is simply lovely and so engaging; I truly felt like I was sharing the adventure with the Linnet children.
