Wayfarers by Knut Hamsun

todd budden, April 24, 2014

i absolutely loved this book. my copy of this book said on the back it was similar to Don Quixote and On the road by Kerouac. the two main characters are fascinating and constantly restless. one minute they're rich and content, the next minute they're dead broke and wondering what they will do next. reading this book got me completely hooked on Knut Hamsun. his nobel prize winning book Growth of the Soil was pretty good, but i think this book is better. a must read.

Jean De Florette & Manov of The Springs: Two Novels by Marcel Pagnol
Jean De Florette & Manov of The Springs: Two Novels

An epic story that makes you feel as if you are living in the rural hills of France. Get this book instead of just "Jean de Florette" as it is the complete story. Deceit has a strange way of coming back to bite you in the butt.

Restoration: Tie-In Edition by Rose Tremain
Restoration: Tie-In Edition

The lady that wrote this book writes it as seen from the main character, the dashing wanna-be doctor who becomes a friend of King Charles II. A great book . Robert Downey Jr. stars in the movie version and pulled off a part very well that I didn't think he could.

Music & Silence by Rose Tremain

the story really pulls you along as you go from one group of characters to the next (about four groups in all) and how they are woven together. one character is known as "the almost queen" after her husband, the king, tells her that she can no longer be his queen. beauty of a book. i would also highly recommend "Restoration" from the same author.

Photographing Montana 1894-1928: The Life and Work of Evelyn Cameron by Donna M Lucey
Photographing Montana 1894-1928: The Life and Work of Evelyn Cameron

This woman was amazing, and so were her photographs. My partner and I kept laughing about how her husband seemed almost useless; she worked so hard to keep things going whether it was running the house and ranch or going on long outings hunting.
