I'm about to release a feature-length documentary, "Troubadour Blues," and Jon Reiss's excellent book is providing me with the road map for building and sustaining an audience without a major studio affiliation or distribution deal. This is the field guide to the brave new world of DIY distribution. I teach at a film school, and when I hear people talking about pitching their scripts to Hollywood studios, or going to Sundance looking for a distribution deal, I refer them to this book. If you can't make it to one of Jon's high-energy workshops (and even if you can), Think Outside the Box Office is required reading. Anyone trying to build an audience for an independent film needs this book. I can't praise it enough.
