Brother Juniper's Bread Book: Slow Rise as Method and Metaphor by Peter Reinhart
Brother Juniper's Bread Book: Slow Rise as Method and Metaphor

trickwithaknife, February 18, 2009

What a delightful book - sometimes I read it aloud to family and friends just because it's a great book on its own. Each recipe has a thoughtful commentary as well as tips and tricks to get the best results. And here's a confession: I have yet to find a cookbook of ANY description that has actually brought me to tears as did Brother Juniper's description of "The Sound of Crust". The one cookie recipe in the book is accompanied by a touching story too, and whenever I make the cookies people invariably ask for the recipe. A worthwhile purchase for both the recipes and the metaphors! A real gem.
