Telegraph Avenue by Michael Chabon
Telegraph Avenue

tsoee, January 4, 2013

Lengthy and dense makes for a voluminous work, but since the volume in question is brimming with Michael Chabon’s beautiful beautiful prose, this is a very good thing. There is more that is genuinely lovely, deep, hilarious, or all three in just Mr. Chabon’s thrown away asides than there are in other authors’ most carefully crafted allegories.
Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable book, with complex characters and a solid theme of fatherhood that somehow peacefully cohabits on the page with more pop-culture references than you ever thought possible.
