Intricate Plot that comments on all aspects of crime in modern society (politicians, media, frustrated copy, arrogant criminals). A genuine page turner.

As in the other Master Li novels, the mostly closed eyes are from laughing too hard. This one makes you shiver at times, and couples a sense of reality with a history of a place that never was, but should have been. A great sorrow is that there are only three books in the series.

The quest is almost a cliche in the fantasy genre. Here's one that turns the whole idea onto its ear. In search of a salvation for a village, the heroes find horror, history, humor (laugh out loud funny), and the truth that there is more then just us, there can be justice. A great read.

By terms scary and laugh out loud funny, a witty parody on ancient China (that never was) with echoes of today and tomorrow. A great read.(2 of 3 readers found this comment helpful)
