Tibet, Tibet: A Personal History of a Lost Land (Vintage Departures) by Patrick French
Tibet, Tibet: A Personal History of a Lost Land (Vintage Departures)

uscrigzin, May 27, 2008

This book stands out from the rest of books on Tibet in that it is very honest and as a result succeeds in unraveling the myth of Tibet. So if you want to see Tibet as it is, then this one deserves a place in your bookshelf.

The Monk and the Philosopher: A Father and Son Discuss the Meaning of Life by Jean-francois Revel
The Monk and the Philosopher: A Father and Son Discuss the Meaning of Life

uscrigzin, February 25, 2007

This book through discussion between two men, father and son tries to answer the fundamental questions of human existence, such as Does life have meaning? What is consciousness? Is man free? The son left his academic career as a research scientist to be a Buddhist monk while the father, a member of the Academie Francais taught philosophy. So their conversations in a way lead to the meeting of Eastern and Western thought.
