Twists and turns in the plot leave a slight hesitancy in knowing what exactly did happen. A story of fanily love, self-challenges, and human foibles. Engaging. I read Maupin 20 or so years ago and was delighted to find another story.(7 of 15 readers found this comment helpful)

Written in a style that pulls you into the story and won't let you go. Not only an engaging story, but I learned more about the role of the US in the world (the side of us we don't like to acknowledge). It is also a dramatic portrayal of often misplaced missionary blindness and zeal. Fantastic book. Can't believe I didn't read it sooner!(10 of 17 readers found this comment helpful)
