very uniqe blend of sci-fi and fantasy. completly seemless (and i'm not afraid to admit, fully as mind blowing as the first matrix movie). though some of the ideas introduced i thought were gonna go over my head, i am pleasantly surprised that mckiernan manages to integrate them into the story so well that you get an entire concept before you realize it and then you just have to sit back and ponder (yes this part is mandatory if only for your sanity). oldie but goody.

i have never picked up a comic book in my life(i am really more of a cartoon man) but i still found it an engeaging read and surprisingly easy to follow. the caracters are reinvented just for this it seems. and by the midlle yoo'll be taking your lunch hour hidden in a supply closet. (to avoid the humilliation and shame of a person your age reading spiderman). you won't be able to put the third section down at all (just so you know i do reomend that you read this portion on a weekend, a three day weekend.). ten for talent. and 8 for sheer shock that a book i read on a dare got me hooked on something as unlikely as spidey.

a tale full of subplots, tie ins and the kind of fast paced action dan abnett has become famed for. all in all a very good read. oh and don't miss the sequel.

great story from a great mind. the first two books are a little small for their price range. but it is worth it when you get to the third.
