Fine Balance

I first picked this book up a year or so ago and I could not get into it. Then I saw it there on the shelf and decided to give it another chance. I was very glad I did. It is an epic novel of India, spanning over decades. Mistry is the Charles Dickens of Indian fiction. He spends a lot of time carefully developing each character until the reader feels like he or she has know the characters their whole lives. Be patient with this book; once you get into it, you won't be able to put it down.

Me Talk Pretty One Day

This was the first book I read by David Sedaris. I have never been much into autobiograpies or essays, but this book made me laugh so hard I cried. Sedaris' dead-pan humor is sure to make anyone a fan.
