This was a beautiful book from beginning to end. The characters were so true and were so easy to love and identify with. Although this is an adult novel, it's also appropriate for young adults, and is one I would highly recommend for them.

Admission
by

After reading a number of glowing reviews of this book, I was very interested. After reading almost two-thirds of the book, interest was lost. Although I enjoyed some of the interesting tidbits and facts about the admissions process, this was primarily a highly predictable story. In addition, I found the main character to be self-absorbed and rather depressing.

Artemis Fowl 01

This book is great! It’s about a 12 yr old boy named Artemis Fowl. He wants to steal gold from the fairies to restore his family’s fortune. So he tricks a sprite into letting him copy her secret book and then comes up with a plan to kidnap a fairy. And that started Artemis and his butlers (Juliette and Butler) on their adventures. I like this book because a 12 yr old boy outsmarts the whole fairy race! And I like how it’s a very realistic fairy tale. by: Adrik

Not only that he also figures out that he is the only person to save the Underland! Read this book & find out what happens. by: Tristan

Ear The Eye & The Arm
by
Nancy Farmer

In the book Ear, Eye and Arm Tendai is a boy from somewhere in Africa. He wants out of his fathers strict control. His father is the chief of police and has a lot of money. Tendai feels his father is too harsh and like a drill sergeant. I think the story takes place in Zimbabwe around 2194. Tendai is around 10 or 12 when he decides to escape with his siblings Rita and Kuda. They go on adventures no one could ever imagine. The children get lost and The Ear, Eye and Arm are three detectives that are hired to try and find the children. Tendai and his siblings dash across the street away from the She Elephant. They touch the cool pavement and they sigh in relief. The mountains of trash start to turn into people, suddenly they spot a bus terminal. They rush toward a bus just arriving. When they get in Tendai asks the bus driver “please let us in sir” and the bus driver says “Oka, CRAAAAACCK! The She Elephant sticks a knife into the window. This is a scene from the book Ear, Eye and Arm. I liked this scene because it is very suspenseful. I liked this book because things happen when you least expect them to. Overall I would give Ear, Eye and Arm a eight and a half out of ten, because some of the characters were unnecessary. These extra characters did add excitement to the book though. by: Gavin

Hall Family 04 Fledgling
by
Jane Langton
Jo Sigmund
, June 07, 2009
The book has 7 characters. They are Georgie, Goose Prince, MR. Preek, MRS. Prown, Eleonor, Eddy, Aunt Alex, and Uncle Freddy. There are only 4 main characters. They are Georgie, Goose Prince, MR. Preek and MRS. Prawn. MR. Preek and MRS. Prawn are mean. Georgie and the Goose Prince are nice. Mr. Preek buys a gun at the sporting store and you'll have to find out what he does with it in the book. You should read this book because it has adventures. If you like adventures then this is the book for you. I mean Georgie's flying here and there. This book is the SLAM.... I was happy, then I was mad, then I was sad. At the end it was a mixture of all my emotions. It's hard to explain, but I think you'll know what I mean after you read this book. By: Cassidy

Hall Family 04 Fledgling

Jane Langton

Have you ever wanted to fly? Soar up into the sky like a bird? Then this will be the perfect book for you. This is a story about eight year old Georgie who somehow managed to come down her staircase in two large leaps and fly (?) from her porch, as high as the roof and land lightly back on the ground, so when the Canadian Geese migrate down to Walden Pond Georgie makes a new friend. I loved this book – it is really well written and makes you wish that it wasn’t a fantasy book but non-fiction. This is a great book for all ages and I know you’ll love it. If you’re going to read this book to your young child, I recommend you read it first. Rating 4 ½ Lumi

Hall Family 04 Fledgling
by
Jane Langton

The Fledgling is about a little girl and a bird. The bird finds a present. The girl dreams to fly. Hmmm, you wonder, what do the girl and the bird have in common? What is the present. I think that if you want to find out, you should read this book. I thought that this book would be boring, but I kind of liked it. It think that if you like children and talking geese and fairy tales, you will like The Fledgling. by: Hannah

Hall Family 04 Fledgling

The Fledgling is an amazing story. Jane Langton was very careful in her book because the plot was amazingly tight and she described things very well. She made the sounds and feeling come to life. The story is about an 8 year old girl who believes she can fly. The story makes you feel like you are out of this world and in a whole other one. It starts out as a boring story and then it becomes really adventurous and has a big twist in the end. You imagine all the things that happen in the book, good or sad, and with this soft wonderful book you can imagine all the different things that might happen. Ms. Langton did an amazing job on her book and I think you should get this book because of the love and caring in it. I give this book five stars! READ THE FLEDGLING, Amelia!

Time Cat The Remarkable Journeys of Jason & Gareth
by
Lloyd Alexander
Jo Sigmund

Time Cat is all about "business" the cat needs to attend. I don't like Time Cat, I always thought every adventure was the same. The book is also all about a cat and "his boy". The cat has nine lives and some other great things. For more, you'd better read the book. I guess it won't hurt to know this about what I thought about it: after three time periods (the book is divided into 9 different time periods) I got really bored but a few parts got my attention back to the book.

Time Cat The Remarkable Journeys of Jason & Gareth
by

Time cat is about a boy, Jason, and his cat, Gareth. The book is about Jason finding out that Gareth has a special power to travel in time. As soon as Jason says visit, they are in ancient Egypt. Jason goes on adventures that he would never forget. The story is about them traveling in time and the fun and joy of all of the adventures they went on. The book is very adventurous and they do a lot of traveling in the book. I really liked the book because it was very adventurous and I never heard of a cat that can go through time. I liked how in the book Jason and Gareth get to visit different places in the world thousands years ago. In fact that Gareth could talk was really interesting, and I thought that Jason and Gareth had a good bond and I enjoyed them working together to get out of trouble. I also liked that Gareth used a lot of life skills on the trips that he went on.
