Igraine The Brave
by
Cornelia Funke
Rayne Reader
, December 30, 2007
Funke's enchanting story of Igraine, a brave young girl who really just wants to be a famous knight. Living with parents who are in possession of the singing magic books and a brother who is destined to follow in their footsteps, Igraine follows her own path and takes a harrowing journey to save her parents (who turned themselves into pigs), brother, the singing books and their castle. Along the way, the most memorable moment is when Igraine meets the Sorrowful Knight and their lives are changed forever, without the magic.

Starcatchers 03 Peter & The Secret Of Rundoon
by

Hang onto your socks in this last book of the Peter and the Starcatcher series. This is a great read-aloud, but not at bedtime as you'll want to stay awake as each chapter keeps you hanging. Bouncing back and forth between two story lines, one in each chapter, one just can't wait to finishing one story line to find out what is happening in the other. My favorite moment in the story is when Peter blasts off and is hanging onto the fin of the rocket, I thought it was all over when ....Grab a huge bowl of popcorn and settle in for reading how it all turns out for Peter and Molly.

So B It A Novel
by
Sarah Weeks
Rayne Reader
, May 05, 2007
Written from the viewpoint of a 12 year old who is home bound with a mother and an agorapobic neighbor, I cried when she cried, felt frustrated when she was frustrated and scared as Heidi travelled across country by bus. What is so fascinating about this book is the mother, So B It, has a mental disability and a limited vocabulary. One word and an old photgraph fascinates Heidi leading her to meet people and visit places that provide surprising experiences. So what does So B It and Soof stand for?

Merlin Missions 09 Dragon of the Red Dawn Magic Tree House
by
Mary Pope Osborne
Rayne Reader
, April 28, 2007
Upon meeting a famous poet, Jack and Annie are called upon to recite poetry and aid victims of a town on fire. Bravely exploring ancient Japan in search of one of the secrets of happiness for Merlin the Magician (including the firebreathing dragon) one is amazed as each page turns and chapter starts a new problem to solve with an unpredictable outcome leading them to the secret. One of the best of the Merlin series.

Peter Pan In Scarlet The Official Sequel
by
Mccaughrean, Froud

If you think that Peter Pan was an exciting story, then run do not walk to read this new sequel to J. M. Barrie's original. McCaughrean was a perfect pick, writes in Barrie's vernacular with an spinetingling edge of your seat story. It's wonderful to know what happened to Neverland and the Boys ... a surprise awaits you with every chapter.
