Swope's time with these kids is life-changing for them. His interaction with them and his teaching techniques are fine examples for all teachers.

Alma Rose Vienna To Auschwitz
by
Richard Newman

While the writing is not outstanding and the chronology a bit confusing at times, this is a fascinating book. The title tells you what is going to happen, but everything that happens along the way is interesting. One can only imagine what her career would have been like if she had lived past the war.

The Book of Salt has the most beautiful prose you will ever read. Read it for the story, but savor the language along the way.
