Blackbeard Americas Most Notorious Pirate
by
Angus Konstam
Michael Lovejoy
, September 21, 2008
The majority of this book has little to do with Black Beard and is an attempt at historically recreating the entire pirate era. Due to the lack of historical records tracking pirate movements, the author leads the reader on a confusing wild goose chase often breaking of on tangents that ultimately lead to dead ends. To make matters worse, Konstam backtracks and eventually settles on some explanation using weasel words to draw conclusions. Furthermore, it seems that the scope of Konstam's work on Black Beard was expanded to other pirates in efforts to produce a book with enough content for publishing. By the time I got to the end where he actually talks about Black Beard, I was so exhausted and perplexed that I had lost interest. If you are looking for a story, do not buy this book. If you are looking for conjectures about historical accounts of piracy, this may be the book for you.

Pirate Hunter The True Story of Captain Kidd
by
Richard Zacks
Michael Lovejoy
, July 10, 2008
This book was great! Zacks immerses the reader in the life of Captain Kidd. I would definitely recommend this book if you are looking for a great story and historical facts about pirates and sailors.
